The book has 10 different stories. The stories cover 5 different locations and largely centered around authors personal and professional lives. The author has effectively recollected his memories and expressed them lucidly. It is a pleasent read. Every story has a pictorial representation which brings more energy to the story. The names used in the stories add color and underscore political leaning. The political overtone is apparent all along. The suspense of naming the book is only revealed in the last story.
It touches (early) romance which easily brings several memories back to readers. The political view of the author is apparent all along. Taking dravidan politics to new territories through professional journey is not an easy ride. The author's journey has traced several such paths.
The soothing feeling one gets while reading the college love is unavoidable. The senior - junior love rather the crush is not uncommon. Most of us can recollect to such crush. I came across the word 'Dravidan color' for the very first time while reading this book. Indeed loved it. We all have a soft feeling for that Dravidian color girl in our life. They cross our life in various stages but their impression during college life is tremendous. Most of us have never taken the courageous step towards that first year block. It was quite enthralling to learn that Adi took it further.
Recalling Rohit Vemula's and Anita's death bring back those painful days. These institional murders need to be discussed and kept in our memories for long time. The story effectively has done that. The story around Kaligar's death once again sharpens our feelings.
On the rocks rocks is a sweet story. Loved it.
Conversations : I am much impressed by two important conversations in the book. It is important to highlight them. The conversation between the author and his North Indian cow belt colleague Viswanth is the way to further progressive politics in the North. Often, even the good people are deprived of the light of the progressive political thought in the cow belt. The conversation between Rohit Vemula and Uma draws an ugly picture of our society. It is important to become aware of them early in life.
It is an inspired (personal) narratory. Author has successfully have taken 10 different avatars through 10 stories. You will enjoy reading it. Looking forward to seeing more of author's creation.
