The Government headed by Dr.Kalignar which assumed office on 13.05.2006, resolved to implement the socialistic policy that all are equal before God and that there should be no discrimination by caste in performing archana to God. The Government ordered that the people of all castes possessing the required qualifications and training are eligible to become Archakas in Hindu Temples, thus removing the thorn from the heart of Thanthai Periyar. A High Level Committee has been constituted by the Government with Justice Thiru A.K.Rajan, retired Judge of the High Court as the Chairman to offer suitable suggestions and recommendations for the implementation of this order. The following dignitaries have been appointed as the members of the Committee.
